It is a contest designed to help young and undiscovered writers break into the filmmaking industry.

How do I submit a script to the Screenplay ShootOut?

-Entry forms are available on our website, and you can submit a hardcopy by mail, or you can enter electronically if your script is in Final Draft, Word or a PDF.

When is the submission deadline?

How can I protect my screenplay from being stolen or plagiarized?

We strongly recommend that you register your script with WGA West (www.wga.org/manual/registration.html) as well as carefully reviewing the rules and regulations section on our website.

Do I surrender ownership or rights to my screenplay by entering the Screenplay ShootOut!?

Hangman Productions will not use the submitted material or any part of the material except in connection with the Screenplay ShootOut! unless the entrant enters into an agreement with Hangman Productions granting the right to use the material.

Do you accept all story genres in this competition?

All scripts will be given equal consideration, whether they be drama, comedy, horror, westerns, thriller, action, etc. The most important criteria are good writing and a unique, creative voice.

Can I submit more than one script?

You can submit as many screenplays as you like, as long you submit an entry form and an application fee for each one.

If I live outside the U.S., can I still enter the competition?

Absolutely. You will simply need to send a money order payable in US dollars, or if you submit electronically, you can pay by credit card.

How will I find out if I won the Screenplay ShootOut?

The winners and finalists will be posted on our website on August 31, 2008.
