- All genres accepted.
- All writers of submitted material must be 18 years of age or older.
- All entries must be in English and between 60 and 180 pages in length.
- Please include a Title page with your submission to include your name and contact information.
- Writers who reside outside of the United States are welcome to enter the contest. Entry in the competition is void where prohibited by laws.
- Scripts written by teams or two or more writers are eligible. Prizes and awards will be divided equally among all writers listed.
- Entries must be postmarked before midnight Eastern Time on the Early, Regular, Late or WAB Extended Deadline in order to qualify for the respective submission fee. Any entries postmarked after the final deadline will be disqualified.
- You may submit your entry by mail. All paper copy submissions must be accompanied with a copy of the submission form and payment by a Check or Money Order payable in U.S. funds payable to: Hangman Productions. Go to submit now for more information.

- We will not use the submitted material or any part of the material except in connection with the Screenplay Shootout.
- Each applicant will receive an email notifying them of the Screenplay Shootout results, and all results will be posted on the Web site.
- Submitted scripts must be original screenplays, and the sole property of the applicant(s).
- There is no limit to the number of screenplays you may submit.
- Once a script has been entered in this year’s screenwriting contest, under no circumstances will we accept substitutions of new drafts or corrected pages. If you wish to submit a revised draft of your script, you must enter it as a new submission and pay the appropriate entry fee.
- The competition is not responsible for submissions that are lost or damaged in transit, and we cannot return scripts once they have been submitted.
- Adaptations of books, plays, or other source material written by another author are not eligible under any circumstances; nor are scripts adapted from books, plays, or other source material written by you if your source material has been sold, produced, or is currently under option to any third party. Scripts adapted from your own self-published books, plays, or other source material are eligible if you have retained all rights to your work.
- If a submitted screenplay becomes optioned or purchased between the time of submission and the end of the judging period, that screenplay will no longer be eligible.
- Competition judges and employees of The Screenplay Shootout or Hangman Productions, Inc., past or present, and their immediate families, are not eligible.
- Previous winners of Screenplay Shootout are not eligible with their previous winning script. However, any script that has not previously won the Screenplay Shootout is eligible.
- Decisions of the judges are final and may not be disputed.
- All submissions are final and no refunds will be processed.
